SC 04 - Aspect-Oriented Programming with AspectJ S�rgio Soares (UFPE) Tuesday, September 28, 2010 (17:30-21:00)

Abstract:

The benefits of object-oriented programming are well known and disseminated in academy and industry. However, the object-oriented programming has some limitations, such as tangling and spread code of different concerns, which makes harder software development and maintainability. Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP) tries to solve these limitations. This course presents AOP using AspectJ, an aspect-oriented extension to Java. The AspectJ language is used to show the major abstractions and mechanisms available. Major AspectJ constructions are presented using a real application as example. Finally, there is a discussion about adopting AOP in real projects.

Lecturer:

• S�rgio Soares is an associate professor (Adjunto) at the Informatics Center, Federal University of Pernambuco and a CNPq Researcher (Level 2). He holds a PhD degree in Computer Science at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (2004). S�rgio coordinates research projects funded by CNPq, FACEPE, FINEP and Petrobras and is the Executive Coordinator of the National Institute of Science and Technology for Software Engineering (INES). He works in Computer Science, with emphasis in Software Engineering, mainly acting on the following themes: Aspect-Oriented Software Development, Software Product-Lines, Empirical Software Engineering and Software Testing.
