1st Workshop Brasileiro de Desenvolvimento de Software Dirigido por Modelos (WB-DSDM)

Abstract:
Model-driven development (MDD) shifts the development focus from code to models. The major advantage of this is that practitioners can tackle the inability of third-generation languages (such as Java, C++ and Python) to alleviate the complexity of development platforms and express high-level concepts effectively. Thus the goal of this workshop is to bring together students, researchers and practitioners with different backgrounds and who have worked directly or indirectly with MDD to: (i) discuss the beneficial and harmful impact of MDD on practitioners’ productivity; (ii) understand how MDD is currently being applied in industrial projects; (iii) identify possible factors affecting its success/failure; and (iv) discuss the fundamental principles, state-of-the-art techniques, good practices, and emerging challenges governing the contemporary application of MDD.

IV Latin American Workshop on Aspect-Oriented Software Development (LA WASP 2010)

Abstract:
Aspect-Oriented Software Development (AOSD) is an increasingly important paradigm in software development whereby novel notions of modularity and composition mechanisms are discussed with the goal of taming concerns that cut across traditional abstraction boundaries. The Latin-American Workshop on Aspect-Oriented Software Development (LA-WASP) aims at bringing together the Latin-American researchers and practitioners interested in topics related to AOSD to share and discuss ideas, strengthen research group collaborations, and identify new research opportunities. LA-WASP 2010 follows the success of three editions (2004, 2005, and 2006) of the Brazilian Workshop on AOSD (WASP) and three editions (2007, 2008, and 2009) of the LA-WASP. This year, the workshop will be held together with the Brazilian Conference on Software (CBSoft) in Salvador, Bahia (Brazil).

1st Workshop on Autonomous Software Systems (AutoSoft 2010)

Abstract:
Autonomous systems represent the next great step in the fusion of computing, sensing, and software to create intelligent systems capable of interacting with the complexities of the real world. The transition from passive to autonomous components turned software architectures into complex platforms that may contain many components that dynamically interact, and engage in complex
coordination protocols. Transportation, aerospace, defense and finance are amongst some of the sectors shifting towards replacing the human operator by architectures and implementation technologies that are intended to provide overall system improvements. AutoSoft intends to extend the state of the art in both engineering and application in the context of autonomous systems. The main idea is to bring together researchers and practitioners, involved in the development of techniques and applications of Autonomous Software Systems, to discuss the latest developments, trends and innovations concerning the theory and practice of such software. IV Workshop on Distributed Software Development (IV WDDS)

Abstract:
The requirements and complexity of current software systems impose the cooperation of several development teams with different skills, and more recently, which take place in geographically distributed settings. Nowadays, the software industry has been exploring distributed resources as a mean to reduce cost and development time, and also to expand to
new markets. However, geographical distance has a significant impact on the process of coordination and communication between members of the dispersed development teams. Thus,
problems and challenges intrinsic to software development processes become more critical in Distributed Software Development (DSD).
The fourth edition of the Workshop on Distributed Software Development (IV WDDS 2010) constitutes a forum for researchers and industry practitioners to present and discuss their results and experiences in the area. The goal is to provide an opportunity to generate knowledge and to exchange experiences, facilitating the adoption, evaluation and execution of academic and industrial DSD projects in Latin America.

1st Workshop on Directions for Young Software Engineering Researchers

Abstract:
Our goal is to organize an event with the same purpose as ICSE's "New Software Engineering Faculty Symposium" in the Brazilian Congress on Software: Theory and Practice (CBSoft) to benefit the software engineering community in the country, especially the young researchers. The Workshop's Keynotes have written and will publish a textbook on the topics covered during the workshop. Thus, the workshop will also enable a channel of communication between authors and readers of the book.
Some discussions to be addressed, involving young and more experienced researchers are:
- How does one define a research agenda?
- How does one obtain financing for research projects?
- How can one be promoted?
